   Let’s get the negatives out of the way first. The finish on the large parts of the sharpener is a bit rough – particularly on the stone holder and the silver base. However, this has no effect on sharpening ability, so not an issue. The part that the guide rod passes through could also be smoother, but that is an easy fix. However, the vertical rod is smooth, as is the guide rod, and angle adjustments are secure. The full metal construction is very solid and should last a long time. It also gives the sharpener some weight, to help keep it stable. The suckers don’t hold particularly well, but on a flat, stable surface, you don’t really need them anyway. If you want a really stable base, I would suggest mounting the legs upside down, and then using the sucker holes to bolt the sharpener to a work bench or cutting board. The plunger that hold the stones is a little stiff, but this can easily be adjusted via a screw.

   The device is great! Except for the plastic suction cups … They do not hold well and are very difficult to fasten.

   Well packed – good quality sharpener better than the thin bent metal type I would recommend using small ‘G’ clamps to secure to bench/table for better stability
